"Pizza Burger"

Since we are going back home to Pekin for Christmas break tomorrow, Brendan wanted to use up all the bits and pieces of food we have laying around here. So he made a "pizza burger," though not in the traditional way.

He actually cooked a small frozen pizza, then cooked a hamburger on the George Foreman grill, then put the burger on top of the pizza. He then topped the burger with a slice of provolone cheese and diced onions and mustard (McDonald's style, he called it), and topped the whole thing off with half a hamburger bun. (I used the other half as toast yesterday, since we were out of bread.)

A creative, if a little unhealthy last dinner at the apartment. I probably won't be posting as much over break, since Brendan and I will be living at two different places for a few weeks. Although we'll be in Spain for a few of those weeks, so I'm sure I'll have many pictures of crazy Spanish food to post when we get back.

Mashed Potato Mountain

Brendan was feeling a little artistic tonight, so for dinner he had mashed potatoes surrounded by a wreath of green beans. He also added honey, salt, and pepper to the beans. He assured me that they were good, although I am not a fan of green beans myself.

Although not pictured, Brendan also ate most of a chicken-pot pie, although I helped. And then afterwards, he made melted chocolate and cinnamon chips with peanuts and a shortbread cookie and vanilla ice cream. Don't ask.

East Meets West

Today for lunch, Brendan decided to use up the rest of a can of bamboo shoots that he had bought. Like most things Brendan buys, he had no idea in mind how he was going to prepare the food, he just bought it because he found it in the Oriental foods section of Wal-Mart, and it looked interesting. He decided to go with a fajita-style meal. He mixed the chopped bamboo shoots, green pepper, onion, garlic cloves, and thinly-sliced steak together in a skillet. He then put the mixture, along with shredded cheese, onto a tortilla, and used the quesadilla-maker to grill it. Then he topped it all with sour cream, and lime and garlic salsa, as you can see in the pictures.

George Foreman Grilling, and SPAM

Today for lunch, Brendan made a new favorite; frozen, thinly-sliced steaks, cooked on a skillet and then topped with cheese. He also added sweet peppers and horseradish sauce, all on top of rye bread. He then grilled the entire sandwich on the George Foreman grill.

As far as Brendan food goes, this was pretty normal, and even appetizing to others! Although I can't say as much for the "grilled SPAM" sandwich that Tom made. He claimed it was delicious, but I definitely have my doubts.

What Did Brendan Eat Today, You Ask?

This is a new blog I am starting, and every day I will post pictures of the always interesting, not-always-edible concoctions that my boyfriend comes up with (and almost always consumes!).

The top picture, of course, is Brendan. And yes, he is always that happy. And always that cute.

The next picture is what Brendan ate for dinner today. He calls these sorts of mixtures "chili," though this particular one was decidedly un-chili-like. It consisted of breaded, fried okra, a can of peas, chili beans, and diced tomatoes with green peppers. And, as usual, he ate three bowls of it.

The bottom picture is a "Pumpkin Pi" that my roommates made, and of course Brendan ate.

Come back tomorrow for more of what Brendan ate!
